By that I mean, You can't just turn the corner or camp the plane to escape death. Zombies are only challenging because of how small and "linear" the maps are. They aren't mindless drones that can only melee, with the occasional flamethrower.
I think the biggest difference to me are that survival enemies have guns and grenades that they use to attack, although they can also melee, which makes them more challenging and versatile. They're more like "How many points can you get to unlock this next bit before you die?" Boss fights are fun, but I think the juggernauts and choppers are boss fights as well. I never cared much about easter eggs, although they are neat novelties, and puzzles aren't really puzzles.
Panzer zombies are locked behind DLC maps, unlike Survival enemies. While it is map-to-map, keep in mind zombies maps are exclusive to zombies. Can't wait to see it return in this year's release. I may just be biased because I started with Spec Ops before zombies. I'm not saying zombies isn't good, because it is, but Survival will always be leagues ahead of it imo. It also wasn't nearly as linear: there's more elevation and different routes and angles in the maps, and since your enemies had guns, choppers, dogs (god how i hated those dogs) and grenades, you had to be more strategic with where you camp out since you can't just run and gun through their ranks. I also prefer getting the whole map immediately instead of segments of it that are unlocked through points. Trying to get enough points for a streak was fun. Anyone remember those waves in Survival where you had to face two enemy choppers and a juggernaut? I don't know about you, but that was so frustrating yet so rewarding when I pulled it off. Survival is zombies except it's harder and the enemies aren't literally and figuratively braindead and can kill you from a distance. Survival not only had variety with the maps and enemies and such, but the replay value and fun factor was top notch. I don't see how anyone could prefer Zombies.
